How we handle your info and keep things straight with you

Last Updated: October 31, 2025

Look, we get it - nobody actually enjoys reading through legal stuff. But here's the deal: your privacy matters to us, and we wanna be upfront about what we do with your information.

We're not some massive corporation that sells your data to the highest bidder. We're just a shop in Vancouver that works on European performance cars, and we need some basic info to do our job right. That's pretty much it.

When you bring your car in or reach out to us, we're gonna need some basics:

  • Your contact details - name, phone number, email. Pretty standard stuff so we can actually get in touch when your BMW's ready.
  • Vehicle information - make, model, VIN, mileage, service history. Can't diagnose a car without knowing what we're working with, right?
  • Service records - what we've done, parts we've used, diagnostic results. This helps us track patterns and catch issues before they become expensive problems.
  • Payment info - billing address, payment method. Gotta keep the lights on somehow.
  • Website usage data - IP address, browser type, pages you visit. Basic analytics to see what folks are looking for on our site.

We don't ask for stuff we don't need. If you're wondering why we need something specific, just ask - we're happy to explain.

We're not doing anything shady with your data. Here's exactly what we use it for:

Service & Communication

Scheduling appointments, sending service reminders, letting you know when your car's done. You know, the actual reason you gave us your number.

Vehicle History Tracking

Keeping records of what work we've done helps us maintain your vehicle properly over time. Plus, if you've got an intermittent issue, that history can be gold for troubleshooting.

Improving Our Services

If we notice a particular model year of Audi's having the same issue repeatedly, we can stock the right parts and be more efficient. That kinda thing.

Legal Compliance

Sometimes we gotta keep records for warranty claims, safety recalls, or regulatory stuff. It's part of running a legit shop in BC.

What we DON'T do: Sell your info to third parties, spam you with junk, share your data with competitors, or use it for anything you didn't agree to.

Yeah, we use cookies. Not the delicious kind, unfortunately.

Our website uses cookies and similar tech to remember your preferences and see how people use the site. It's pretty basic stuff:

  • Essential cookies - make the site actually work. Can't really turn these off.
  • Analytics cookies - help us understand what pages are popular, where folks are coming from, etc. We use this to make the site better.
  • Preference cookies - remember settings you've chosen so you don't have to do it every time.

Most browsers let you control cookie settings if you're particular about it. Just know that blocking certain cookies might make parts of the site wonky.

We're not tracking your every move across the internet or anything creepy like that. We just wanna know if our website's doing its job.

We take security seriously. Your info is stored on secure servers with encryption and access controls. Only authorized staff can access customer data, and we train everyone on proper data handling.

Our payment processing goes through secure, PCI-compliant systems - we don't actually store your full credit card info on our end.

That said, nothing's 100% foolproof in the digital world. We do our best, but if there's ever a breach, we'll let you know ASAP and tell you what happened and what we're doing about it.

Physical security: Customer records in the shop are kept locked up when not in use. We're not leaving your info sitting around on the counter.

We keep your info pretty close to the vest, but there are a few situations where we might need to share it:

  • Parts suppliers - sometimes we need to share vehicle info to order the right parts or check warranty coverage.
  • Service providers - like our payment processor, appointment scheduling system, or hosting company. They're contractually obligated to protect your data too.
  • Legal requirements - if a court order, government agency, or law enforcement requests it, we gotta comply with Canadian law.
  • Safety recalls - if there's a manufacturer recall affecting your vehicle, we might need to coordinate with the manufacturer.

That's pretty much it. We're not sharing your email list with marketing companies or selling data to brokers. Your business is between you and us.

Under Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA and BC's privacy legislation), you've got rights when it comes to your personal info:

  • Access: You can ask to see what information we have about you. Just give us a call or send an email.
  • Correction: If something's wrong or outdated, let us know and we'll fix it.
  • Deletion: Want us to delete your data? We can do that, though we might need to keep some records for legal or warranty purposes.
  • Opt-out: Don't wanna get service reminders or promotional emails? No problem - just tell us or hit the unsubscribe link.
  • Withdraw consent: You can change your mind about how we use your info anytime (within reason - we still need basics to service your car).

To exercise any of these rights, just reach out to us at service@ignivarionspire.info or give us a call at (604) 555-7839.

We don't keep your information forever, but we do need to hang onto it for a reasonable period:

  • Service records: Typically 7 years - helps with warranty work, tracking recurring issues, and legal requirements.
  • Financial records: 7 years for tax and accounting purposes (CRA requirement).
  • Marketing consent: Until you opt out or we haven't heard from you in a few years.
  • Website analytics: Usually 24-36 months, then it gets anonymized or deleted.

If you haven't been in for service in several years and don't respond to our check-ins, we'll eventually archive or delete your active records (keeping only what's legally required).

Our website might link to other sites - like parts manufacturers, diagnostic tool companies, or industry resources. Just so you know, we're not responsible for their privacy practices.

Once you click away from our site, you're dealing with whoever's running that other site. We'd recommend checking out their privacy policies if you're concerned about how they handle data.

We might update this policy from time to time - new tech, changes in the law, or updates to how we run things. When we make changes, we'll post the updated version here with a new date at the top.

If it's a major change that affects how we handle your data, we'll let you know directly - probably via email or a notice when you're in for service.

It's worth checking back here occasionally if you're curious about any updates.

Look, if anything in here doesn't make sense or you've got questions about how we handle your information, just ask. Seriously.

We'd rather have a quick conversation and clear things up than have you wondering what we're doing with your data.

If you've got a formal privacy complaint and we can't resolve it directly, you can always contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. But hopefully it won't come to that - we're pretty reasonable folks.

Bottom Line

We respect your privacy, we're careful with your data, and we're always transparent about what we're doing. That's the Ignivari Onspire way.
